Installing a magnetic and mic soundhole pickup in a Baden Acoustic
This cool new Baden didn't come with a pickup.
It's a really nice guitar with great tone. Jim just wanted to add a pickup so he can amp it.
Jim chose the Seymour Duncan Mag Mic Acoustic System. This system integrates a magnetic pickup with a microphone and combines it all into a neat little soundhole package.
Baden wasn't nice enough to put an end pin in this one. We had to start from scratch and cut into this pretty finish.
Getting started on some careful drilling.
And VOILA! endpin jack installed. Now we have a place to plugin and a way to hang it from a strap.
Here's the pickup as it sits in the soundhole.
You can see the battery box down inside. All the wiring is neatly run through the guitar and attached to the sides to keep it from rattling around or messing with the tone.
Looks pretty nice hanging there.
Strung up, setup with ultra tight action for an acoustic. This thing rocks both unplugged and plugged in. The mag mic system gives you a ton of tone options.
Jim said it plays just like an electric guitar now that the action is so tight.
